Luke Nicholson
My name is Luke Nicholson. I'm a design strategist and entrepreneur based in London.
I'm Director of More Associates, a sustainable innovation practice where we design products and services that advantage business, society and the environment. I work across many different contexts, from social media to the built environment, from public policy to organisational design.
Design process offers a great set of tools to make simple things that solve difficult problems. My personal focus is on evolving markets (and other ecologies) through disruptive innovation. Right now, I am most excited by the opportunities to transform the commercial performance of established organisations by agressively producing social and environmental outcomes.
I have spent much of the last few years creating systems and strategies to help people to easily address climate change. At More Associates we developed this work into a product, a service, a business and a brand and in 2007 incorporated Onzo as a Joint Venture with product design engineers Lightweight Medical. Today Onzo is a high-growth global business that will help save massive amounts of energy and carbon while giving energy suppliers a completely new way to increase revenues and develop their businesses. Onzo won £2m of commercial investment and a £7m order from Scottish and Southern in February of 2008.
I advise government, corporations and NGOs on design strategy and climate change communications, and I help out at a number of social enterprises, not-for-profits and start-ups.
